Network Maintenance Engineer (FLM)
Location: South-West UK (Various Sites)
Start date: ASAP
Job Type: Contract (Ongoing)
Day Rate: Various (Reactive Call Out, Preventative Call Out and OOH Overtime Applies) – Rates Available on Request.
Payment Terms: Weekly
Allied Resource are currently working with a very reputable global telecommunications company based in the South-West UK. Our client has taken on new contracts with a global brand to complete FLM activities across their portfolio of sites in the area and now requires an experienced Network Maintenance Engineer on a contract basis to complete field maintenance activities. A retainer will apply for on-call activities.
Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, diagnose, and restore telecommunications equipment, cabling and infrastructure to support key customers’ networks.
- Complete site surveys/audits for assessment of space and power to consider any future expansions.
- Complete cable trace, label and replacement. Fibre patching and patch fibre replacement works.
- Carry out on-call when required as part of the first line maintenance team, on a shift pattern to be discussed.
- Successfully report and close trouble tickets to customer SLA’s.
- Respond quickly and effectively to requests from the NOC.
- Complete and submit Maintenance Visit Reports within 24 hours of leaving site.
- Always adhere to H&S policies on site and complete risk assessments when necessary.
Must Have:
- Strong experience in reactive and planned maintenance on optical networks within exchange/data centre environments.
- Excellent knowledge of various network infrastructures from providers such as Adva, Alcatel-Lucent, Huawei, Ciena, Cisco, Juniper, Marconi and Nortel.
- Full suite of tooling and relevant consumables to complete maintenance works (full list available on request).
- Experienced and able to complete various cabling activities, including installation, maintenance and commissioning of category and fibre cabling (including splicing and testing).
