The roll-out lasted seven months and included works on the actual supermarket stores, distribution centres, food processing and abattoirs.

The work involved surveying each premises (store, distribution centre, abattoir) prior to any installation works began and completing all relevant information on the IAuditor.

The installations involved working at heights in cherry pickers or boom lifts, installing all telecoms cabling, installing new Wireless Access Points for the AP’s and then making sure they were all working and coming online then signing off using iAuditor.

At it’s peak Allied Resource had 60+ Contractors assigned on the project which averaged out across the 7 months to 40 Contractors per week.

The Contractors were all based from all over the UK ranging from Cornwall to Scotland, who were required to work nights in order to complete the Installations and Surveys were all completed during the day.

As you can imagine not all projects go as smoothly as planned and we were faced with numerous schedule changes plus last-minute requests for additional engineers.

Allied Resource did not shy away from the challenge and would get the additional resource even this meant late nights and working over the weekends in order to meet our Clients needs to ensure we delivered the right Engineers and them being ready to begin and complete relevant works.

When I came into the business, Allied were already a key partner in delivering various contractors for our rollouts, however once this project started, it was a real eye opener for me to experience how Allied could perform. Working on a large scale rollout with a major supermarket chain, we had to complete telecoms / Wi-Fi installs on various stores. Each store lasted for two nights, but the engineers from Allied were very efficient and could usually finish stores in one. We also used Allied engineers on all of the large distribution centres which needed a number of wireless access points installed, these jobs lasted around 4-6 weeks each and the working environment could be quite challenging at times with some being abattoirs. At our peak we had 60+ contractors working for us from Allied. With a such a large number of contractors from them we expected a number of issues, but issues were very minimal. When issues did arise, Allied were always on top of everything and very quick to resolve issues or deliver additional resource at the 11th hour if needed. We will definitely be using these contractors again and I look forward to working with Allied Resource on future projects
